Data centre to be built in Queensland

APC has formed a strategic alliance with Springfield Land Corporation. Under the alliance, Springfield Land Corporation will develop the Tier III+ Data Centre in Queensland and APC will provide its NCPI technology.

The $90 million data centre will host the IT infrastructure and operation of international companies as well as businesses of the new master planned city of Greater Springfield, expected to reach a population of 850,000 by 2025.

The data centre will be located in the CBD of Greater Springfield, 25 km from Brisbane.

Named Polaris, the data centre is part of the ICT strategy being implemented by Springfield Land Corporation. This includes a privately funded dark-fibre communications network recently laid between Brisbane and Greater Springfield.

The centre will deliver over 6600 square metres of high-availability raised floor space, and will host the mission-critical IT systems of government departments and utilities as well as local and international companies.

The data centre is vendor neutral and will deliver services on behalf of a number of different vendors. It will support Greater Springfield's ATMs, supply chain management, email and internet with minimum to no down time.
