Asia Pac CIOs are turning green

Increasing numbers of CIOs in the Asia Pacific region are considering the issue of Green IT, according to analyst firm Frost & Sullivan.

This follows a similar increase of interest in America and Europe, thanks to new environmental regulations in those regions.

“Frost & Sullivan believes that senior executives cannot afford to ignore the pressing topic of climate change, particularly as governments worldwide start to legislate mandatory emissions targets for large businesses,” a statement from the firm read.

The Australian Government’s decision to ratify the Kyoto Protocol is indicative of a swell of support for environmental protection, according to Frost & Sullivan.

The firm also said that those organisations that anticipate changes to legislation and regulations and adapt accordingly will experience business benefits.

“Governments are starting to legislate for change, and organisations that move ahead of governments will gain a competitive advantage over those that do not,” the firm said.

“Companies that fail to embrace emissions reduction targets now will face harsher hurdles later.”
