Telstra and the National Australia Bank (NAB) have debuted their wireless ATMs at the International Flower Show in Melbourne.
The ATMs, which utilise Telstra’s Next G wireless network, can be deployed to temporary locations without the need for connection to physical communications lines.
Group managing director of Telstra Enterprise and Government, David Thodey said the wireless nature of the ATMs saves NAB time and money in ATM deployment.
“[The debut] follows a successful pilot at the Formula One Grand Prix that received very high customer uptake,” Thodey said.
The ATMs will be deployed at major outdoor motor sports and cultural events over the next couple of years.
They are expected to be available at the following events:
- Royal Melbourne Show (Flemington) — September 2008
- Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000 — October 2008
- Gold Coast Indy — October 2008
- Moto GP (Phillip Island) — February 2009
- Avalon Air Show (Avalon) — March 2009
