CIOs need to supply the increasingly web literate workforce with the collaboration tools employees expect, in order to support productivity.
That’s the take home message of the recent Females in IT and Telecommunications (FITT) forum, ‘CIO2.0 – Power to the People’.
“The emerging role of a CIO2.0 is a trend that needs to be studied and addressed,” said FITT chairperson, Carolyn Shaw.
The forum, which included the input of more than 200 IT professionals and Gartner’s Mary Ann Maxwell, reached several conclusions regarding Web2.0:
- CIOs need to identify and empower web-savvy users
- There needs to be a balance between collaboration and control
- Organisations must move beyond the ‘perpetual beta’ style of software development and embrace leaner development strategies
