Telstra has launched a sitelet that allows users to calculate how much carbon they could save by using telecommunications like videoconferencing, rather than flying or driving to meetings.
The sitelet also highlights seven opportunities for telecommunications to reduce carbon emissions, some that are for the future and others that can be made use of now. For example: information on videoconferencing; how to make a video call; and recycling mobile phones.
The sitelet is hosted on Telstra's nowwearetalking website, which is designed to increase the level of public discourse about the future of telecommunications in Australia. The sitelet allows visitors to discuss, debate and contribute to this issue.
