Request Broadband has awarded Getronics Australia an additional contract worth between $4.5 and $6 million to become the sole supplier of its broadband installation services in Australia. The three-year contract complements Getronics' existing support and maintenance contract, which was signed at the beginning of 2002.
A provider of national broadband Internet protocol (IP) services using IP networking and digital subscriber line (DSL) technology, Request requires extra installation support to connect the growing number of business and small office/home office customers who are signing up to its broadband network. Request expects Getronics to install between 800 and 1,000 new customers per month, steadily increasing over the next 12 months.
"A critical part of the deal will involve Getronics integrating their workforce management system with Request's customer provisioning system to speed up installation processes. This will ensure Request is able to deliver on the service level agreements we offer our customers," said Kath Miles, General Manager, Customer Service, Request.
Getronics will warehouse and stage Request's DSL routers, which will be configured and distributed to field engineers, ready for installation. Getronics will also track Request's stock of routers and handle maintenance and repairs.
