Telstra's national performance in making new connections improved in urban (92%), major rural (95%) and minor rural (97%) areas for the quarter.
Optus' performance in providing new connections remained steady at 97% nationally.

In the September quarter, call drop-out rates ranged from 1.8% (Optus in Tasmania) to 0.8% (Optus in South Australia). Call congestion rates ranged from 0.5% (Telstra in NSW and SA) to zero (Optus in Tasmania, Vodafone in Tasmania and Vodafone in the Northern Territory).
