Optus reveals NBN plan pricing

Optus has revealed the pricing of its first internet plans for the national broadband network (NBN), with more plans to be revealed later down the line.

At the moment, the telco has seven NBN packages, which will be available from 21 November in mainland NBN first release sites, under the existing NBN Co trial agreement.

Optus said NBN plans for small and medium businesses will be available early 2012, with details coming “soon”.

The packages announced today include naked NBN plans, as well as mobile and home phone bundles.

The cheapest plan costs $39.99/month (when bundled with a $19/month mobile plan), and offers a 40 GB data allowance, split into 20 GB peak and 20 GB off-peak.

The most expensive NBN-only plan comes in at $79.99, offering 500 GB of downloads, split into 250 GB peak and 250 GB off-peak.

The plans come with a free NBN Wi-Fi gateway and carry no service installation or set-up fees. Fetch internet TV services will be included “by the end of the year”.

With the announcement, Optus joins several other ISPs that have revealed their own NBN plans, including Westnet, iiNet and Exetel, among others.

Optus previously delayed announcing its NBN plans, citing a need for more clarity before publishing retail plans, as reported by Computerworld.
