RAD has announced the ACE-50 ATM-Aware Network Termination Unit (NTU), a plug-and-play device, providing flexible connectivity between the user network and the public ATM network.
The ACE-50 enables ATM service providers to extend control over high speed access lines to the customer premises. It creates a manageable demarcation point between private and public networks and allows carriers to monitor user traffic. It supports in-band management over dedicated ATM VCCs.
The device can also be used as part of a corporate ATM-based WAN.
The unit supports STM-1/OC-3 data rates and a variety of media (coax, micromode fibre or single mode fibre) on the user and network ports.
