Matrium Technologies and Spirent Communications announce the Spirent Avalanche 2700 - the next-generation Layer 4-7 testing appliance.

It is essential that the performance of the network infrastructure, security systems and web applications are tested to ensure that performance goals are met. By stress testing the infrastructure with high amounts of simulated user and network traffic, the load-testing appliances can quickly identify potential points of failure.

Suitable for equipment manufacturers, service providers and enterprise network operators, the appliance eliminates the need to build expensive and cumbersome test infrastructures by accurately emulating user and network behaviour.

The appliance has close to 100,000 connections per second, 1.7 million open connections and 3.6 Gbps of sustained throughput. It features dual 3.6 GHz Xeon processors with an 800 MHz front side bus. The unit ships with 8 GB of memory and with an 80 GB hard drive and supports four gigabit ethernet interfaces; either GigE Copper, GigE Fibre or a combination for test ports.
