The ProCurve Wireless Edge Services Module (WESM) provides automated centralised control for a wireless LAN. Working with ProCurve Manager, it allows organisations to use a single automated security and management system to control user access to any part of the wireless LAN or ethernet network.
Designed as a module that plugs into the ProCurve 5400 and 8200 series switch chassis, WESM automatically manages and configures ProCurve radio ports. This allows organisations to automatically deploy and provision a wireless network, adjust cell size through power output settings, select channels and avoid radio frequency interference.
The ProCurve WESM solution allows automatic fault tolerance to be built into the wireless LAN. The wireless network can even be set up to self-heal, with cell sizes and network coverage adjusting automatically in the event of a radio port failure. Full layer 3 mobility features are included, as well as user access authentication, simplify network connectivity and security for mobile devices.
