The AMP NETCONNECT XG cabling technology system provides users with a next-generation network infrastructure to support 10 Gigabit over both copper and fibre media. It comprises cable, connectors, termination closures and patch cords.

Users have a choice between two systems, the shielded twisted pair copper (XG Shielded) or the optical fibre (XG Fibre).

The AMP NETCONNECT XG Copper Cabling Solution has been specifically engineered to overcome the issue of ANEXT (Alien Crosstalk) resulting in a high signal-to-noise ratio and in turn delivering optimum system performance. The system will support 10GBASE-T to 100 m. The copper system offers the transmission capacity needed for 10GBASE-T as outlined by IEEE 802.3an.

Intensive lab tests, applying worst-case installations in conjunction with testing up to 625 MHz, and experience in the field have demonstrated these cable, connector, and patch panel designs support 10 G data rates.

According to AMP NETCONNECT, the XG shielded cables have about 30% smaller diameter than comparative UTP Category 6a cables. When used in conjunction with the shielded connectivity, XG systems provide exceptionally fast installation with AMP-TWIST or SL series jacks and with the SL Series installation tool they can be terminated in 60 seconds.

AMP NETCONNECT XG 10G Fiber system is also available thus providing customers with a complete network cabling infrastructure solution technically supported from a single manufacturer.
