Interworld has released the RTC-840 Series rugged tablet computer from Aaeon, a computing platform for portable and mobile applications that operate in harsh environments.
It is housed in a tough Mil Std 810F water- and dust-proof case that can withstand high shock and vibration.
Based on the Intel 945GME chipset, it supports Intel Core Duo ULV 1.2 GHz (U2500) processors, a 533 MHz FSB and up to 2 GB of 200-pin DDRII 533/667 SODIMM memory.
Video graphics and user input are provided by an 8.4” SVGA (800 x 600) TFT LCD with built-in touch screen or optional digitiser and a numeric keypad with programmable function keys.
Input/output and communications include: one RS232 com port, two USB 2.0 ports, one mini-USB port, one RJ45 Gb ethernet port, one RJ11 modem port and onboard 802.11a/g wireless LAN and Bluetooth support.
PCMCIA and CompactFlash card sockets are provided for system expansion and a 9-cell smart lithium-ion high-capacity battery gives up to 6.5 h of battery life.
With support for Windows XP embedded and handwriting recognition, the tablet computers are suitable for applications that require a portable data input device.
