The Cloud Design Service has been developed to assist businesses and government agencies to accelerate the adoption of cloud-based infrastructures to improve technology and business flexibility.

The service designs and deploys scalable, cloud-based infrastructures that speed up the delivery of projects while mitigating risk. It ensures the cloud infrastructure can support a hybrid sourcing model that includes private and public cloud options, allowing organisations to consume and deliver services that support different workloads.

HP creates a customised cloud infrastructure design blueprint and an implementation plan which includes cost estimates, guidelines for deployment, testing, operational management, service life cycle management, governance and support.

Benefits of the service include:

The HP Reference Architecture for Cloud acts as a common framework for all cloud engagements and accommodates different business requirements, technologies, software stacks and cloud service requirements.

The design blueprint and implementation plan takes into account people, processes, technology, cost estimations and workload migration aspects, expediting time to delivery and mitigating implementation risk.

HP uses tested, repeatable planning and analysis tools from HP Labs, the company’s central research arm, Information Technology Infrastructure Library v3 best practices and methodologies developed from major cloud design implementations. This reduces costly technology redundancies while helping clients make strategic investment decisions.

Heterogeneous, repeatable design principles and objective recommendations are used to integrate HP Converged Infrastructure technologies, HP software and third-party products into the overall cloud infrastructure design.

For clients still at the education, strategy or planning stages, HP offers the HP Cloud Discovery Workshop and the HP Cloud Roadmap Service.

The services will be available from May 2010.
