The IP Media Server (IPMS ) Release 3.0 is a software-based multimedia server that allows users to rapidly deliver video solutions with a good user experience over mobile and broadband networks.
As a fundamental element of a service delivery platform, the media server can power a wide variety of voice- and video-enabled value-added services, such as IVVR, multimedia ringback tones, video portal, video mail, video SMS, social interaction and video advertisements.
Enhancements enable the system to support video transcoding, transrating, transizing and video fast update for the H.263 and H.264 codecs to achieve good video quality on 3G and SIP user terminals.
It also enables users to add advertising and other information to streaming video in real time through text overlays with scrolling, multiple fonts and international language support.
Users are also able to stream video content from servers and other sources (web cameras, live TV, etc) controlled by RTSP protocol. This is made possible by an RTSP client built into IPMS Release 3.0.
