The CalAmp Vanguard 3G broadband router is claimed to provide reliable wide-area CDMA or GSM cellular connectivity optimised for high-speed, mobile environments with demanding data requirements for harsh data.
With the router, problems such as complex messages, congested voice communication and limited human resources are addressed by delivering a robust technology that facilitates fast and reliable dispatch of work crews, especially during emergencies.
The router incorporates a sensitive 16-channel GPS receiver and an algorithm that offers good receive sensitivity and improved accuracy, integrity and availability of GPS signals. An optional built-in Wi-Fi access point allows tethered devices to remain connected even when users leave the vehicle.
CDMA models leverage high-speed EV-DO Rev A technology to provide data access at speeds up to 3.1 Mbps with backward compatibility to EV-DO Rev 0 and CDMA 1x technology. GSM models leverage high-speed HSUPA technology to provide data access at speeds up to 7.2 Mbps with backward compatibility to HSDPA, UMTS, EDGE and GPRS.
Serial and ethernet interfaces simplify deployment and ease technology migration. With extensive I/O capabilities, users have the flexibility to run several other devices and applications.
The router also features secure, remote management with password-protected configuration for easy upgrades and maintenance, including AES, WEP and TKIP. Its rugged enclosure is claimed to be suitable for trunk mounting with a wide -30 to +60°C operating temperature range.
