Belden has introduced two FiberExpress Brilliance installation kits for use with the company’s Brilliance connectors which simplify optical fibre termination in the field and can be used up to five times.
It is claimed that within around 5 s, users can accomplish the splicing and crimping of the fibre, as the connector’s switch-like activator performs the fibre splicing and crimping action within the connector.
Although the termination of Brilliance connectors requires no specialised or proprietary tools, the installation kits have been designed to allow installers to easily transition to FiberExpress Brilliance connector technology.
The Field Installation Kit features: an installation pouch which can be carried in three different ways, shoulder strap and belt and handle; an installation guide and laminated measuring card; and a demonstration video.
The Precision Installation Kit features all the accessories of the Field Installation Kit plus a precision cleaver, for precise cleaves at a higher volume (up to 10 times more) than a field cleaver. The optical performance achieved with this kit exceeds TIA requirements and, it is claimed, removes the requirement to verify the cleave by microscope.
