Yamasaki media converters receive data signals from one media (cable type) and convert the signals to another, while remaining invisible to traffic and other networking devices.
They are suitable for the installation of new cable segments or devices without the need to replace entire cable structures or install new components. They can also be used to upgrade or extend the distances of networks by adding fibre types and, therefore, improve network speed and bandwidth.
A wide range of transmission media options is offered, including: copper to fibre; USB powered; fibre-to-fibre; stand-alone; card-based; Power over Ethernet; and GBIC (SFP) to copper. Data transmission rates range from 10-1000 Mbps, allowing for seamless integration into mixed copper and fibre ethernet networks.
One media converter is the converter UTP (unshielded twisted pair) to fibre-optic cable. The Media Converter offers the conversion as its basic function. The most common types are 10/100 or gigabit and convert between multimode, singlemode, RJ45 and SFPs. They are available in managed and unmanaged varieties and can be mains powered, POE, or USB powered, on request.
